Pogoy to Stay with TNT for the Next 3 Years
Roger Pogoy, one of the pillars of TNT Tropang 5G, isn’t going anywhere.
The player who became a star while helping the Tropang 5G become a multiple-time champion will be staying on for the next three years, squelching rumors that he is headed overseas.
“Three years. It’s done,” wrote TNT team manager Jojo Lastimosa in a Viber message when asked by All-Star Magazine about the status of Pogoy.
Pogoy’s contract is set to expire in August this year, but Lastimosa confirmed that they’ve already reached an agreement that will allow the former Far Eastern University stalwart to continue seeing action for the only PBA franchise he played for.
“He’s about to sign. We’re just finalizing details,” added Lastimosa.
Pogoy was one among those players who made their way to the big league coming from the Gilas Cadet special draft in 2016.
He was the last player selected in the Gilas Cadet draft (12th overall), a special selection process in which all teams could pick amateur players who had previously played for the national squad.
Since Pogoy played and became part of the FEU champion squad coached by Nash Racela more than a decade ago, his inclusion in the Tropang Giga, then the moniker being carried by TNT that time, didn’t come as a surprise.
The 34-year-old Pogoy has been a part of TNT’s four championships and remains one of the vital cogs of the squad.
