Former Ateneo Blue Eagles co-captain Sean Quitevis has taken the next step in his basketball career by joining the Ilagan Isabela Cowboys, a new addition to the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). This move reunites him with former Ateneo teammate Gab Gomez, bolstering the Cowboys’ roster as they prepare for their inaugural season.

During his tenure with the Ateneo Blue Eagles, Quitevis was instrumental in leading the team to the Season 85 championship. His leadership, defense, and tenacity on the court earned him recognition as a key player in Ateneo’s success.

In an exclusive interview with ALL-STAR Magazine, Quitevis shared insights into his decision to join the Cowboys:

“Joining Ilagan wasn’t necessarily a part of my plan. But when I got to know coach [Louie Gonzales] and the coaching staff, I appreciated how they viewed the game. It’s beyond the stats, it’s about grit, hustle, and doing all the little things that matter to winning. It’s a new team, but it’s a great environment with players who are out to prove themselves and represent the city with pride. The management are passionate and extremely hospitable. Which all amounts to what I believe is the perfect environment for me to step outside my comfort zone and grow as a player. I got a lot to prove and I’m excited for that opportunity. Trusting in God’s plan for me.”

The Cowboys were officially introduced as the newest team in the MPBL on February 1, 2025. Owned by the Diaz family of Isabela province, the team aims to showcase local talent and promote the city as a sports hub.
