UP Fighting Maroons gain payback on DLSU, win UAAP Season 87 Title

The UP Fighting Maroons are the new kings of UAAP Men’s Basketball, as they defeated the defending champion DLSU Green Archers, 66-62, on Sunday, December 15 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Veteran player JD Cagulangan registered 12 points, 2 rebounds, and 4 assists to the team’s emotional victory. Big man Quentin Millora-Brown also recorded 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 1 assist, while Francis Lopez had 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 assists.

Despite their impressive efforts, the DLSU Green Archers failed to defend the crown. Veteran player Mike Phillips led the Archers with a double-double of 18 points, 12 rebounds, and 2 assists. MVP Kevin Quiambao recorded 13 points and 4 rebounds, while senior player Josh David registered 6 points, 1 rebound, and 4 assists.
