Veejay Pre Expected to Join UP Maroons
Reigning UAAP Rookie of the Year Veejay Pre is expected to join the UP Maroons, sources told ALL-STAR.
The former FEU Tamaraw will do a year of residency then play two years left of eligibility starting Season 89 in 2026.
Pre and his family are finalizing their commitment to UP on Friday, May 23.
NU, UST, Mapua, and Adamson also expressed interest in recruiting Veejay. La Salle, which was Pre’s original preferred choice, entered the conversation at the tail end. By then, Pre and his family were already leaning towards UP.
This is a monumental pickup for the Fighting Maroons, who also recruited James Payosing and Rainer Maga.
Management from UP and La Salle made promises to friends from FEU they would not recruit Veejay if he was still committed to the Tamaraws.
Once Pre announced to leave FEU through his own decision, other programs began making pitches.
Pre comes in at a time UP will need him. With the recent departure of Francis Lopez and upcoming departure of the Bullpup recruits from back in the day, he fills an area of need.
