Ynot still unsatisfied despite impressive Benilde comeback
The Benilde Blazers turned things around, making a huge comeback against Mapua Cardinals, 78-65.
During the first half of the game, Benilde was down a few points and couldn’t seem to take the lead from their opponent. But the buzzer-beater shot in 3rd quarter from Justine Sanchez tied the scores, and it was uphill from there for Benilde.
Player of The Game Tony Ynot admitted that he was pressured and nervous because it was the first game, but opted his teammates to control their emotions and grit. “Kasi first game eh, ‘yong gigil ando’n eh. So sabi ko nalang follow the rules, follow the system.”
Tony has been known as a good defender, but he hopes to showcase his offensive side more for this season. With 9 pts, 8 assists, and 4 steals for the first game this season, Ynot isn’t satisfied and still aims for more.
“Siguro hindi pa [ako satisfied], kasi ando’n pa rin ‘yong gigil eh. Pero binibigay ko naman ‘yong best ko every [time na] nasa ako court ako.”
Allen Liwag also powered through with 23 points, greatly impacting the win Benilde took home today.
Coach Charles Tiu said that the win today may have been up by 13-pts, but it certainly didn’t feel that way because of the lead they had to fight for. “Buti na lang, I give credit to the guys. They doubled up the effort and they found a way to win.”
Benilde will be facing San Beda on Tuesday, with both teams fighting for a 2-0 stat.
