Alas Women Sweep Mongolia, Advances to Asian Games Ninth-Place Match

Alas Pilipinas Women picked up another straight-set victory in the 2026 Asian Games after sweeping Mongolia, 25-13, 25-11, 25-20, on Monday at the Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park Gymnasium.

The Filipinas controlled the match from the opening set, building an early cushion before pulling away from Mongolia to take a 1-0 lead.

Alas continued to dictate the pace in the second frame, limiting Mongolia to just 11 points to take a 2-0 lead.

Mongolia kept the third set closer, but Alas pulled away late to complete the sweep.

Angel Canino led all scorers with 14 points, while Alyssa Solomon added 11 and Bella Belen chipped in 10. Thea Gagate also contributed six points, including three aces.

The victory sends Alas to the ninth-place classification match on Tuesday, where the Philippines will face Hong Kong.

Alas entered the classification stage after falling to defending champion China and Kazakhstan in the preliminary round. The Filipinas opened the classification phase with a 25-8, 25-2, 25-9 victory over Qatar before advancing past Mongolia in straight sets.
