Bianca Bustamante attains first podium in Miami
Filipina racing sensation Bianca Bustamante had an outstanding performance in Miami on Sunday by attaining her first podium finish of the 2024 F1 Academy season.
The 19-year-old driver for McLaren came in second place and just three seconds behind winner Abbi Pulling of Alpine and finished ahead of Mercedes’ Doriane Pin in Round 2 of their race weekend in the United States.
Bustamante finished ninth thanks in large part to a five-second penalty which cost her two places in the first round, but made up for it with consistent driving the day after.
Pulling finished first a second straight race but not before having to stave off pressure from Bustamante on Sunday in the first turn at the Miami International Autodrome.
Overall it was a superb weekend for McLaren as Lando Norris secured his first grand prix victory at the Miami GP.
Bustamante will be back in action for the papaya-themed racing team from June 21-23 when the F1 Academy heads to Barcelona.
