Mapua High School Star Sean Salvador Commits to JRU
One of the standout names from the NCAA juniors division has made his next move. Following an impressive high school stint with the Mapúa Red Robins, 6-foot guard Sean Salvador has officially committed to play for José Rizal University (JRU) in the seniors division, beginning in NCAA Season 101.
Salvador enters the collegiate ranks with five full years of playing eligibility, a significant asset for a JRU program that continues to accumulate talent and build toward long-term competitiveness. His arrival brings not only potential but proven performance.
During his time with Mapúa, Salvador carved out a reputation as a versatile forward with a high motor and the ability to score from inside and out. He averaged 10.83 points, 3.83 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game, according to Pinoyliga, with a field goal percentage of 30.76%. His most notable performance came during a heated matchup against San Beda, where he poured in 24 points and knocked down four of his eight attempts from beyond the arc. The Red Robins snapped a losing streak that day, thanks in large part to Salvador’s leadership on the floor.

His impact extended beyond local NCAA play. Salvador led Mapúa to a title in the Asiabasket Youth League, where he earned MVP honors for his contributions — a statement win that helped raise his profile in the national basketball scene.
Now joining the JRU Heavy Bombers, Salvador brings that same edge and energy to a team looking to climb the ranks in the NCAA seniors division. While JRU has seen flashes of competitiveness in recent seasons, the addition of a young, durable talent like Salvador could signal a longer-term investment in growth and continuity.
With NCAA Season 101 underway, all eyes will be on how Salvador transitions to the more physical play of the collegiate level. His five-year window gives both him and JRU a rare opportunity to build a foundation and grow together, setting the stage for what could be a pivotal chapter in both his career and the program’s future.
