Xavier’s Gavin Kua Commits to CSB Blazers, Eyes Impact Role

Xavier School standout Gavin Kua confirmed has committed to join the College of Saint Benilde (CSB) Blazers, officially entering the NCAA ranks in Season 101 with five years of eligibility.

Kua, who gained attention online for his clutch shooting and energy in tournaments like the Stallion Cup, confirmed that his move to CSB was something he had been aiming for since high school.

“I was just blessed to have been given the opportunity to walk on and compete,” Kua said. “I initially thought that CSB was a really good program ever since I was in high school because of Coach Charles and Coach Ty, who both came from my alma mater, Xavier.”

The connection between CSB and Xavier runs deep, and that familiarity helped shape Kua’s decision. His former high school coach, Willie Wilson, played a key role by exposing his players to college-level training environments early on.

“Since Coach Willie Wilson was my coach in high school, he gave us a lot of opportunities to train around other college teams,” Kua added. “But I’ve really always had my eyes set on CSB from the jump. I just loved their culture and their program.”

While he enters as a walk-on, Kua sees his role as far from passive.

“I envision my role to be somewhat of a battery — wherein I have a sudden impact for the team whether that be on defense or making a 3 on offense.”

CSB, which has been steadily building under a culture-first approach, adds another hungry, high-motor guard to its pool — one with deep ties to its coaching staff and a drive to prove himself from day one.
